Quick answer
You can contact us by email at ihosting78@gmail.com with corrections, questions about how a calculator works, or feedback on a guide. We cannot give personal tax advice or tell you what to put on your tax return. For that, contact HMRC or a qualified tax adviser.
Key facts
- Email: ihosting78@gmail.com
- We welcome corrections, feedback and questions about the site.
- We cannot give personal tax advice or review your return.
- For your own tax affairs, use HMRC or a qualified adviser.
What to contact us about
We are happy to hear from you about the following.
- Errors or out-of-date information. If a rate, rule or figure looks wrong, tell us which page it is on and what you think it should say. If you can, include a link to the official GOV.UK page.
- Calculator problems. If a calculator gives a result that looks wrong, or does not work on your device, tell us what you entered, what you expected and what you saw. Do not send documents that contain personal details.
- Suggestions. If there is a Capital Gains Tax topic you would like us to cover, or a calculator you would like to see, let us know.
- Press and other enquiries. Use the same email address and say what your enquiry is about.
What we cannot help with
We are not able to give you personal tax advice, check your tax return, tell you whether a particular sale is taxable in your circumstances or deal with a dispute with HMRC. The calculators and guides are for general information. For personal help, see the options below.
| If you need | Go to |
|---|---|
| Your own tax record, a return or a payment | HMRC, through your online account on GOV.UK |
| General guidance on a tax rule | GOV.UK pages on Capital Gains Tax |
| Advice on a large or complex gain | A qualified tax adviser or accountant |
| Help if you cannot afford advice | A free tax helpline or advice charity |
How we handle your message
When you email us, we use your email address and what you write only to reply and to improve the site. We do not sell your details or add you to a mailing list. Please do not include your National Insurance number, bank details or Unique Taxpayer Reference in an email. You can read more in our privacy policy.
Beware of scams
HMRC does not ask for your payment details by email, text or social media, and neither do we. If you get a message that claims to be from HMRC and offers a refund or threatens a penalty, do not click links in it. Check your tax account directly on GOV.UK. If you think a message is a scam, you can forward it to the address shown on GOV.UK for reporting phishing.
Before you write
Many questions are answered in our guides. Our how to calculate Capital Gains Tax page explains the method, our methodology page explains what the calculators do and do not cover, and each guide ends with ten common questions. If your question is about your own affairs, an adviser or HMRC is the right place to ask.
